Wearing of the Uniform / Badge

On-Duty, Uniformed Employees. Uniformed employees shall wear their official Department-issued badge on the outermost garment of their uniform. However officers in a Department-approved specialised uniform, (e.g., bike detail) may wear a facsimile badge.

On-Duty, Plainclothes Officers. On-duty, plainclothes officers shall wear their official Department-issued badge so it is readily accessible for presentation to members of the public.


WHO SHALL WEAR UNIFORM. All employees regardless of rank shall wear the prescribed uniform and personal equipment during their tours of duty.

EXEMPTIONS TO WEARING UNIFORMS. The following officers are exempted from wearing the prescribed uniforms - Command officers; and, Undercover and plainclothes assignment officers.

Accessories

BELT. Black basketweave, with silver belt buckle and silver pouch buttons.

Note: Officers may choose to wear a basketweave holster so long as it matches with the belt type.

COLD WEATHER HAT. Officers may choose to wear a black fleece cap during inclement weather. 

GLOVES. Black leather or knitted gloves may be worn for inclement weather. Gloves in solid, muted colors may be worn in situations where extra protection is required. Nitrile gloves may be worn when providing first aid, or collecting evidence.

HIGH VISIBILITY VEST. Officers shall wear a reflective safety vest while working in the roadway.

Note: A reflective safety vest is not required when an officer conducts a traffic stop.

HOLSTER. Unless specified, all officers shall wear their black holster on their belt.

JACKETS. Officers may choose to wear a department-issued jacket during inclement weather, or during cold periods of time.

LOAD BEARING VEST. Officers may optionally equip themselves with a load bearing vest. It shall be navy blue in color and bear the text "SPCALS HUMANE OFFICER".

SHOULDER / CHEST MIC. Officers may choose to wear a shoulder or chest mic for their radio.

TASER. If an officer chooses to utilise a taser, they shall use a black taser. 

WINDBREAKER. Plainclothes assignments may choose to wear a marked windbreaker to identify themselves as a member of the department. It shall be blue in color, bear the department badge.

UNIFORM TYPES

Class A

Shall be worn by any officer attending a formal event.

May not be worn by officers conducting field activities.


SHIRT. Long sleeve shirt, with tie.

PANTS. Standard duty pants.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

Class B/C

May be worn by officers conducting field activities.


SHIRT. Long or short sleeve shirt, with open collar.

PANTS. BDU pants, navy blue in colour.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

Utility Uniform

May be worn by officers conducting field activities.


SHIRT. Long or short sleeve navy blue shirt, with open collar. Shall be worn with a sewn badge and sewn name patch.
LOAD BEARING VEST. Officers may optionally equip themselves with a load bearing vest. It shall be navy blue in color and bear the text "SPCALS HUMANE OFFICER".

PANTS. BDU pants, navy blue in colour. Shall not be bloused.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

Field Uniform

May be worn by officers conducting field activities in wooded areas or during heat wave patrols.


SHIRT. Black short sleeve t-shirt which shall bear the text "LOS SANTOS COUNTY SPCA POLICE" or blue short sleeve t-shirt which shall bear the text "LOS SANTOS COUNTY SPCA POLICE".

PANTS. BDU pants, beige in colour. Shall not be bloused.

Note: Alternative pants types, such as jeans or shorts may be authorized.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.
