Wearing of the Badge / Uniform

WEARING OF THE BADGE. Agents conduct their day-to-day duties in plain clothes. On-duty, plainclothes agents shall wear their official issued badge and ID card so it is readily accessible for presentation to members of the public.

WEARING OF UNIFORM ACCESORIES. When on an assignment where interacting with other agencies or with members of the public is a possibility, FAT agents should wear accessories or clothing items that identify them as a FAT agent, unless tactical conditions prohibit it. In addition, they must have their badge openly visible.

EXEMPTIONS TO UNIFORM REGULATIONS. Command staff and Undercover agents are exempt from uniform regulations.

Accessories

BASEBALL CAP. May be worn by agents working in the field. Must be blue in color and display "POLICE.

EARPIECE. Agents may choose to wear an earpiece.

EXTERNAL ARMOUR. In situations where, due to tactical conditions, an extra layer of protection could be required, agents may put on external armour. Shall be dark in colour, and must display "FAT”, "FAT POLICE", or the FAT logo.

FIREFIGHTER-STYLE HELMET. Agents assigned to a scene of a fire/explosion/unstable structure may don a blue firefighter-style helmet in situations where it is required. It shall be light blue in color and bear the FAT logo and "FAT" lettering.

GLOVES. Black leather or knitted gloves may be worn for inclement weather. Gloves in solid, muted colors may be worn in situations where extra protection is required. Nitrile gloves may be worn when providing first aid, or collecting evidence.

HELMETS. Agents may choose to wear a ballistic helmet in situations which require extra ballistic protection. Ballistic helmets shall be dark in colour.

HOLSTER. Agents may choose to carry their service firearm in a low profile outer holster, shoulder holster, or in a concealed inside-the-waistband holster. In situations where required by tactical conditions, agents may choose to wear a drop-leg holster.

POLO SHIRT. Agents may choose to wear a polo shirt bearing either "FAT AGENT" or "FAT POLICE" lettering and the FAT badge.

T-SHIRT. Agents assigned to the National Response Team may wear a grey t-shirt with "FAT NATIONAL RESPONSE TEAM" silk screened on it and "FAT" on the front.

WINDBREAKERS. Agents may choose to wear an appropriate windbreaker as their outermost clothing item. It shall be blue in color and must display “FAT" and the FAT badge.

Uniform Types

FAT K9 Team

Shall be worn by agents of the FAT K9 Team.


BADGE. Agents assigned to FAT K9 team shall openly wear their badge.

SHIRT. A shirt bearing "FAT K9" lettering.

PANTS. Professional or cargo pants in neutral colors

FAT Special Response Team

Shall be worn by agents of FAT SRT.


SHIRT. Green or camouflaged long sleeve combat shirt, bearing the FAT Special Response Team patches.

PANTS. Green or camouflaged tactical pants.

BODY ARMOR. Similarly colored external armor, which displays “FAT POLICE"

HELMET. Similarly colored ballistic helmet.

BELT / HOLSTER. Alternatively, a tan equipment belt and/or a tan pistol holster may also be worn with the camouflaged uniform.
