On-Duty, Uniformed Employees. Uniformed employees shall wear their official Department-issued badge on the outermost garment of their uniform. However officers in a Department-approved specialised uniform, (e.g., bike detail) may wear a facsimile badge.

On-Duty, Plainclothes Officers. On-duty, plainclothes officers shall wear their official Department-issued badge so it is readily accessible for presentation to members of the public.

WHO SHALL WEAR UNIFORM. All employees regardless of rank shall wear the prescribed uniform and personal equipment during their tours of duty.

EXEMPTIONS TO WEARING UNIFORMS. The following officers are exempted from wearing the prescribed uniforms - Chief of Police; Staff officers; Command officers; and, Undercover and plainclothes assignment officers.

BASEBALL CAP. May be worn with the Utility Uniform. Shall be black in colour and bear the text "POLICE."

BELT. Black basketweave, with silver belt buckle and silver pouch buttons.

Note: Nylon/fabric belt may be worn with Bicycle Uniform, Beach Detail Uniform and Utility Uniform.

BODYCAM. Bodycams shall be worn by Officers; the newer Coil Body 3 is to be used. 

Exemptions: Wearing of the bodycam is not required: 

• At the direction of Command;

• For on-duty CTSOB, DB, and PCG assignments; and,

• For other plainclothes assignments.

COLD WEATHER HAT. Officers may choose to wear a black fleece cap during inclement weather. 

CYCLE HELMET. Black cycle helmet shall be worn by officers assigned to Bicycle Detail. 

EXTERNAL CARRIER VEST (STAB VEST). Officers may choose to wear external carrier when conducting their duties in uniform. External carrier vests shall be dark blue in colour, and must display "POLICE" as well as the RHPD badge.

GLOVES. Black leather or knitted gloves may be worn for inclement weather. Gloves in solid, muted colors may be worn in situations where extra protection is required. Nitrile gloves may be worn when providing first aid, or collecting evidence.

HELMETS. Officers may carry a ballistic helmet in their patrol vehicle for situations which require extra ballistic protection. Officers may wear riot helmets during riots/major public order situations. 

HIGH VISIBILITY VEST. Officers shall wear a reflective safety vest while working in the roadway.

Note: A reflective safety vest is not required when an officer conducts a traffic stop.

HOLSTER. Unless specified, all officers shall wear their black holster on their belt.

Note: Officers may choose to wear a basketweave holster so long as it matches with the belt type.

JACKETS. Officers may choose to wear a department-issued jacket during inclement weather, or during cold periods of time.

PLATE CARRIER / EXTERNAL ARMOUR. Officers may choose to carry a plate carrier/external armour in their patrol vehicle. The plate carrier/external armour shall not be worn unless the situation calls for it. The plate carrier/external armour shall be black and bear the text "POLICE" or "RHPD."

Note: A Tac Alert does not give automatic permission for officers to wear plate carriers/external armour.

SHOULDER / CHEST MIC. Officers may choose to wear a shoulder or chest mic for their radio.

TASER. If an officer chooses to utilise a taser, they shall use a black or yellow taser.

Dropleg Holster: Officers may use the dropleg taser holster. This may be used with any B/C uniform.

TURTLENECK. Officers may choose to wear a department-issued turtleneck under their duty shirt during inclement weather. It shall be blue, and bear the text "POLICE."

WINDBREAKER. Detectives and other plainclothes assignments may choose to wear a marked windbreaker to identify themselves as a member of the department. It shall be blue in color, bear the text "ROCKFORD HILLS POLICE" and the department badge.

ZIPTIES. During major public order situations, officers may choose to wear extra ziptie cuffs on their belt.

Shall be worn by any Police Officer I.

Shall be worn by any officer attending a formal event.

May be worn by officers conducting field activities.

SHIRT. Long sleeve shirt, with tie.

PANTS. Standard duty pants.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

May be worn by officers conducting field activities.

SHIRT. Long sleeve shirt, with open collar.

PANTS. Standard duty pants.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

May be worn by officers conducting field activities.

SHIRT. Short sleeve shirt, with open collar.

PANTS. Standard duty pants.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

Shall be worn by all motor unit officers.

SHIRT. Class A, B, or C style shirt may be worn. Shirt must have the Motor Unit patch (a wheel with an arrow, gold in color).

PANTS. Motor pants shall be worn with knee-high boots, tucked in or out. They shall be dark blue with a yellow stripe.

HELMET. All motor unit officers shall wear the department-issued motor helmet. It shall be black and white in color, bearing the RHPD decal.

GLOVES. Officers shall wear black leather gloves.

Shall be worn by officers assigned to Bicycle Detail.

SHIRT. Dark blue polo shirt, must have a facsimile badge and the embroidered name. "POLICE" shall be displayed on the back.

PANTS. BDU Pants, or Shorts, black or dark blue in colour.

FOOTWEAR. Black sneakers.

BELT. Duty belt as prescribed.

Note: Deputies may optionally wear the Nylon belt with a plastic buckle.

HELMET. All officers shall wear a bicycle helmet when riding a bicycle. It shall be black in color.

Shall be worn by officers assigned to the Counter-Terrorism & Special Operations Bureau for Crime Suppression and the K-9 Unit.

On-duty personnel must obtain permission from a duty supervisor to be authorised to use the utility uniform.

Note: May be worn during a Tac Alert, or special event, without supervisor permission.

SHIRT. Blue long sleeve or short sleeve utility shirt, with open collar. It shall bear the RHPD patches and embroidered badge and name tape.

PANTS. Blue BDU pants.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

BELT. Duty belt as prescribed.

Note: The Nylon belt may be worn with the utility uniform.

Shall be worn by Special Investigation Bureau during tactical operations.

SHIRT. Green long sleeve combat shirt, bearing the subdued RHPD SWAT patches.

PANTS. Green tactical pants.

BODY ARMOR. Similarly colored external armor, which displays “POLICE" or "RHPD".

HELMET. Similarly colored ballistic helmet.
