Wearing of the Badge / Uniform

ON-DUTY, UNIFORMED EMPLOYEES. Uniformed employees shall wear their official department-issued badge on the outermost garment of their uniform. However officers in a Department-approved specialized uniform, (e.g., utility uniform) may wear a facsimile badge as described below.

Uniformed employees shall wear the official Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority patches on their shoulders wherever possible..


WEARING OF THE UNIFORM. All employees regardless of rank shall wear the prescribed uniform and personal equipment during their tours of duty.


WEARING OF THE UTILITY UNIFORM. Utility Uniform may be worn by rangers.

Accessories

BELT. Black Basket Weave belt, with silver buckle and silver pouch buttons.

CAMPAIGN HAT. Rangers may choose to wear a straw colored campaign hat when on patrol. 

COLD WEATHER HAT. Rangers may choose to wear a black fleece cap during inclement weather. 

GLOVES. Black leather or knitted gloves may be worn for inclement weather. Gloves in solid, muted colors may be worn in situations where extra protection is required. Nitrile gloves may be worn when providing first aid, or collecting evidence.

HOLSTER. Unless specified, all rangers shall wear their black holster on their belt. 

Note: Deputies may choose to wear a basketweave holster so long as it matches with the belt type.

JACKETS. Rangers may choose to wear a department-issued jacket during inclement weather, or during cold periods of time. 

SHOULDER / CHEST MIC. Rangers may choose to wear a shoulder or chest mic for their radio. 

TASER. If a ranger chooses to utilize a taser, they shall use a yellow taser. 

ZIPTIES. During major public order situations, rangers may choose to wear extra ziptie cuffs on their belt. 

UNIFORM TYPES

Class A Uniform

Shall be worn by any ranger attending a formal event.

May be worn by ranger conducting field activities.


SHIRT. Long sleeve shirt to be worn with the tie. Shall be worn with the metal badge and name plate.

PANTS. Standard duty pants, olive green in colour.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

BELT. Black Basket Weave belt, with silver buckle and silver pouch buttons.

Class B/C Uniform

May be worn by rangers conducting field activities.


SHIRT. Long sleeve or short sleeve shirt, with open collar. Shall be worn with the metal badge and name plate.

PANTS. Straight cargo-style pants, olive green in colour.

FOOTWEAR. Black boots.

BELT. Black Basket Weave belt, with silver buckle and silver pouch buttons.

RANKS

Chief Ranger

Equivalent to Chief of Police.

Deputy Chief Ranger

Equivalent to Deputy Chief of Police.

Park Ranger II

Equivalent to Lieutenant.

Supervising Park Ranger

Equivalent to Sergeant.

Park Ranger

Equivalent to Police Officer II.
